Difference between Adjective & Adverb

In my lesson I’m going to talk about difference between adjective and adverb.

What is the meaning of adjective and adverb?

ماذا يعني صفه وحال ؟

Adjectives describe nouns and pronoun.

الصفه:هي من تصف الاسم او الضمير

For example:

"I ate a meal." Meal is a noun. We don't know what kind of meal; all we know is that someone ate a meal.

مثال هنا :انا آكل وجبه "الوجبه اسم ..نحن مابنعرف شو نوع الوجبه ؟ فقط نعرف انه شخص اكل الوجبه

"I ate an enormous lunch." Lunch is a noun, and enormous is an adjective that modifies it. It tells us what kind of meal the person ate.

في المثال هنا "أنا اكلت غداء ضخم او هائل ..,الغداء اسم و enormous صفه ومعناها ضخم هائل,وهي تخبرنا بنوع وصفة الوجبه التي اكلها الشخص بانها ضخمه

many examples:

She is beautiful

هي جميله

A rich man

رجل غني

I meet a poor man

انا قابلت رجل مسكين او فقير

......

ملاحظه:الصفه تأتي قبل الموصوف بعكس اللغه العربيه فيأتي الموصوف قبل الصفه.

A rich man >>rich بمعنى غني وهي الصفه اتت قبل الموصوف وهو رجل

في اللغه العربيه تكون هكذا رجل غني

Most of the time, adjectives come before nouns. However, they come after the nouns they modify, most often when the verb is a form of the following

في اغلب الاوقات الصفه تأتي قبل الاسم الا انها تاتي بعد الاسماء التي في معظم الاحيان يكون الفعل شكل من الاشكال الآتيه:

Is,are,was,were: beيكون ,كان

Feel يحس

Taste يتذوق

Smell يشم ,يشتم

Sound يبدو

look ينظر

appear بدا ,ظهر

seemيبدو

Some examples:

"The dog is black." Black is an adjective that modifies the noun dog, but it comes after the verb

الكلب أسود ..الاسود هي صفه للاسم وهو الكلب ..بان لونه اسود..لكنه اتى بعد الفعل

"The milk smells rotten." Rotten is an adjective that modifies the noun milk.

الحليب يبدو فاسد ..فـrotten هي صفه للاسم "الحليب" بانه حليب فاسد

"The speaker sounds hoarse." Hoarse is an adjective that modifies the noun speaker.

المتحدث او المتكلم يبدو خشن ..فالـ hoarse صفه للمتكلم بان صوته غليظ خشن

Adverbs: modify verbs, adjectives, and another adverbs. (You can recognize adverbs easily because many of them are formed by adding -ly to an adjective, though that is not always the case.).

الحال يعّرف او يصف الفعل والصفه وحال آخر.يمكن التعرف على الحال بسهوله لان الحال يضاف لها بالنهايه ly ولكن ليس الحال دائما هكذا.

Let's look at verbs first.

لنرى الفعل اولا:

"She sang beautifully." Beautifully is an adverb that describes sang. It tells us how she sang.

غنّت بروعه او بجمال ..بجمال هي حال يصف الفعل غنّى ..يخبرنا كيف هي حالها وهي تغني

Many examples:

She drives slowly.

هي تقود ببطئ

The child cried bitterly.

الطفل بكى بمراره

The cabby drove skillfully.

سائق التاكسي قاد بمهارة

Ahmad writes quickly

أحمد يكتب بسرعه

Adverbs also describe adjectives and another adverbs:.

وايضا الحال يصف الصفة وحالاً الآخر

"That woman is very nice." Nice is an adjective that modifies the noun woman. very is an adverb that modifies nice; it tells us how nice she is.

تلك المرأة لطيفه جدا ..nice هي صفه للاسم "المرأه" وتعّرف المراه بانها لطيفه ,وvery حال تصف او تعرف حال المرأه بأنها لطيفه جدا ,

Another example:

He drives a fast black car

هو يقود السيارة السوداء بسرعه

Example of another adverb:

امثله من الحال الاخر "يكونو اثنين حال في الجمله"

The child cried very bitterly

الطفل بكى بمرارة جدا

Very and bitterly are adverb describe the verb cried;it tells us how very bitterly he cried.

جدا ومرارة هي حال تصف الفعل بكى ,فتخبرنا كيف الطفل بكى بمراره جدا

Another example:

He eats very slowly

هو اكل ببطئ شديد .

Let's look at if you understand difference between adjective and adverb or no'

بنشوف الآن 'هل فهمتو الفرق بين الصفة والحال أو لا "

الشرح باللون الابيض**

"The dog smells carefully." Here, carefully describes how the dog is smelling. We imagine him sniffing very cautiously.

الكلب يشتم بدقه او بعنايه او بحذر.هنا ال carefully تصف او تعرف كيف حال الكلب عندما يشّتم بانه يشم بدقه وبعنايه او بحذر

نحن نتصور بانه يستنشق "يشّتم بحذر شديد

But:

لكن

"The dog smelled clean." Here, clean describes the dog itself. It's not that he's smelling clean things or something; it's that he's had a bath and does not stink.

الكلب رائحته نظيفه ,هنا نظيف صفه للكلب نفسه ,ليس بان يشم الاشياء نظيفه ,بل اخذ حمام "استحم" وهو ليس بان رائحته كريه او ن.

Making adverbs from adjectives

Adverbs are usually made from adjectives, by adding -LY. However, there are some exceptions. These are the rules:

الحال غالبا يكون مشتقة من الصفه باضافه ly

ومع ذلك هناك بعض الاستثناءات.
